MY 9-8 Experience
My morning breakfast started with
reflections on NYC 9-11 which was in the news leading up to 9-11.
By day's end I had experienced a situation that really hit home to me.
I found myself stuck on a elevator with no one around.

I was finishing up things at the museum like so many had done
before me.
It was getting late: 7:45 p.m.

Leaving the 10 floor, I jumped on the elevator as I done many
times before. This time it was different.
The
elevator door closed, it started descending and then it just stopped
with a loud bang.
I felt stranded and hopeless.

I knew this was not good. The building group had
just recently reviewed with me the procedures to follow if an elevator stops
for no apparent reason. I was told that it could happen. Step one, relax and call Dave.

Dave oversees this building. We
communicate often. I called Dave, who in turn called 911 and then headed to the
building from his home. Relax I reminded myself.
We continued to stay in touch and updated each other by cell phone while waiting
on the 9-1-1 responders. Dave and I talked while I sent him text messages
of my observations-for the record, just in case.

Dave, "I hear voices and sounds. The escape door overhead
just opened."
Dave replied, "I and in the building now headed up."

My face may have looked something like this face knowing
everything would soon be fine.

Just then a ladder slowly begin to appear.

"Do you think you can climb up?" "Yes
I
can" I replied.

"We are ready for you to come up this way now"

Dave was up on the 9th floor by now and with the elevator
doors forced open as I climbed up my way up toward the open doors.
Dave snapped this picture as I exited the elevator ceiling.

Dave, I said, "Better it was me to test this elevator than any
anyone else WE know. I welcome new adventures. This was a new
adventure!
Thank you all. Lets go home Dave."

Dave wanted to update the building group. We both took the
stairs down for no other reason than to talk about tomorrow's plans. I
just might take the stairs over the next days or weeks never the forget my 9-8.
