Getting There - Taking highway 58E out of Bakersfield, CA take highway 14N
toward Death Valley, CA.
I use several cameras to take advantage of different features. Sony
707, Canon SX30, HTC Thunderbolt cellphone.
Video though the Red Rock Canyon
- 1 min. 42 secs.
The State Park was close for services yet open for fees!
Because of the high fees, cost of water, no cellphone or
internet, I stayed 4 miles away at Jawbone.
This place was more for RV's and there were several staying at the State Park.
Free Public Access - I had this place all to myself after dark
because it was in January and not a weekend.
My campsite was just behind the sign with mail service, rest
rooms, overhead shelter, cellphone service and parking.
During the day a nearby Information Center was open and there were some
visitors.
My day bed for resting from driving and hiking and my nighttime bed to pass the
dark desert windy night.
Daytime was in the 60's F and nights were in the 40's F winds 16 mph gusts
24 mph - felt 10 F colder.
Video of my campsite as night approaches. 1
